M&D Mechanical has earned its solid reputation by providing quality products and services to commercial, industrial, institutional and government clients. M&D's people are focused on producing satisfied repeat customers, its policies, operational procedures and facilities are designed to achieve this single objective.
The History of M&D Mechanical
Edward Mason and Leon "Lee" E. Dulion as the Mason and Dulion Co. founded the company in 1910 in Birmingham, AL In 1915 Mr.
Dulion purchased the business and continued to operate in Birmingham providing mechanical and plumbing service for many years
in the southeast. The company historically operated as a union contractor, but as union construction declined sharply during the
70's, the corporation formed a nonunion branch in North Alabama named M&D Mechanical Contractors. In 1972 an office was opened in
Decatur, AL to serve the nonunion northern portion of Alabama.
As time passed, the union work played out, and in 1983, the Birmingham office liquidated. Most of the staff and equipment was moved to Decatur, AL at the current Sherman Street location. Strong economic growth in North Alabama fueled the progress of the company as it continued to build relationships with many clients in the area. Currently the company operates from a modern 11,250 square foot office facility accompanied by a modern 5000 square foot sheet metal fabrication shop and a 6000 square foot pipe fabrication facility.
The ownership of the company has always been internal to the organization with all officers and owners serving an active role in management of the corporation. This personal touch has helped the company develop and maintain a very experienced work force that is committed to providing its clients with a quality product.
Over the years, the company has performed many projects for commercial, industrial, institutional, and government clients in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi. Due to a diverse mix of experience in many different areas of the mechanical and plumbing field, M&D Mechanical has been able to flourish in economic downturns. The growth of the company continues at a steady, controlled pace.
