The Gallatin Street Utility Truss provides Huntsville Hospital to ability to enhance the supply of chilled water and steam delivered from their central utility plant to main campus.  Older, smaller lines were run under Gallatin Street and have outlived their serviceable life.  The truss currently carries (6) 16" chilled water supply and return lines, (2) each 8" steam and 4" condensate lines, and (2) 1-1/2" fuel oil lines.  Adequate space for future utilities, electrical, communication or other services has been included.  The additional chilled water capacity supports the hospital's program of upgrading the air conditioning equipment serving various parts of the facility.  The exterior finish on the truss blends well with other pedestrian bridges in the area for a functional, yet unobtrusive addition to the property.
