M&D is an industry innovator and leader in providing a wide range of ongoing training and apprenticeship programs to help our employees grow their skills and careers. Everything we do starts with a focus on safety.
Our training programs include:
All employees receive a minimum 8-hour Basic Orientation Plus paid safety orientation conducted by Tennessee Valley Training Center (TVTC). Additional safety training is provided and encouraged throughout each employee’s tenure.
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS INSTALLER (MSI)
M&D has implemented a 20-week in-house paid training program that develops the employee in general mechanical skills. At the conclusion of this program, trainees are ready to enter formal apprenticeships.
We offer three Department of Labor approved career paths utilizing the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum administered by North Alabama Craft Training Foundation (NACTF). This trade specific training includes: Plumbing, Pipefitting, and Sheet Metal.
We offer an in-house welder training program for both entry level and those with experience who want to enhance their skills in other processes. We typically begin with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on plate and progress to Open Butt MIG on pipe.
MEDICAL GAS INSTALLER
For qualified employees, this 32-hour intense training class teaches NFPA 99 standard for installation of Medical Gas systems in healthcare facilities. This certification includes ASME IX Brazer and ASSE 6010 Installer. (See Certifications)
Training sessions are provided to qualified individuals to prepare for the State of Alabama Journeyman and Master Plumber and Gas Fitter examinations.
M&D is continually utilizing leadership programs from various providers to equip our people with both hard and soft skills allowing them to prosper in their journey.
Professional Development: Tuition reimbursement may be provided for management approved educational courses that contribute to an individual’s development within the industry.
