M&D Mechanical recently began work on the fit-out of the new roughly 390,000 square foot, 7 story Orthopedic and Spine Tower under construction at Huntsville Hospital’s main campus. This new facility will house 72 private patient rooms, 24 operating rooms, a full kitchen, Pre-Op and Post-Op suites, and support services. M&D will be installing the plumbing and medical gas systems for the interior build-out. The materials involved in this effort include 1230 plumbing fixtures and appurtenances, roughly 9 miles of medical gas tubing with almost 20,000 fittings, 17,000 feet of drain and vent piping, and 30,000 feet of copper water piping.

Assorted hangers, seismic restraints, thermal insulation, and labeling for identification contribute to completed systems. M&D’s workforce is expected to peak at 25 men. The project is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2021.
